Hi everyone,

especially our friends from Finland:
Guys and girls, what´s going on up there in ole´flat Finland?
A guy with an ILLEGALLY owned gun goes around killing six people and your prime minister publically demands stricter gun laws?
Anybody out there going to check his mental health?

I do really hope you have an "gun lobby"!!????
Up to now I was under the impression that the Northern countries are generally a bit more sedate and reasonable, meaning less hysterical.

I only know some parts of the Finnish gun laws, but I like that there are rifle ranges that DEMAND the shooters use a silencer. Its very reasonable but of course the simple word "silencer" send shivers down the antis`spines.

So: Any Finnish shooters aboard? Any infos for us?

There has to be Finnish shooters out there. Finland has shooters and a gun industry. Years ago I had a Sako in .222 cal. That rifle had the L46 action. Sure wish I still had it. That was one fine rifle. Any country that builds rifles like that has shooters. I'll second Carsten. Come on Finland. Let us hear from you.

NEWTOWN, Conn. -- Firearm sales continued to surge across the country for the fifth straight month, extending a trend that began after the November elections. The increase also follows recent comments by several high-profile members of the Obama administration about re-imposing permanently and expanding the ban on modern sporting rifles
Data from the FBI's National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) show background checks on the sale of firearms jumped 29.2 percent in March when compared to March 2008 and were up 27.1 percent for the first quarter of 2009 over the same quarter last year
