NYC has announced legislation that would increase the penalty for selling a toy gun by as much as 500%. The city would also have authority to shut the store down for 5 days after a third offense. Roy Rogers must be turning over in his grave. I really do not know how any reasonable person can stand to live in that city. Sorry if I offended anyone.

If I lived there I'd move. Fortunately, I've never found myself in that unfortunate position. You know if you visit there on business, they want you to pay prorated income tax for the portion of the year (or perhaps portion of your income) related to that visit. I assume that's the state of New York, not the city, but still. And then, if you have the nerve to be wiser than they are about policy (i.e. if you're a conservative) then they audit you for compliance with a tax that's moronic in the first place. Rush Limbaugh has been audited repeatedly, for example. What do they think people are going to do but move out? Just continue to submit?

In NYC there was a scam where if you stopped for a traffic light someone would run out and clean your windshield. If you didn’t pay them you would end up with a smashed windshield or worse. A friend of mine had a hard rubber replica of a 1911 pistol he would keep on his dash. The windshield washers would take one look and back away. Now I guess my friend will be arrested and fined for that.

As well he should. How dare he interfere with the sincere attempts of window washer Americans to extort an honest living? Especially when they were just starting to turn their life around!

They need revenue... After all all the smart people are tired of giving half of what they EARN away to a state that decides what's best for them... They should rename in Nanny York.
On a side note to this discussion. BB guns are illegal in Philadelphia, and Pa is a strong gun state by most standards.

Philadelphia is just another case of a government telling people don't worry about your responsibilities as a parent, we'll take care of every thing. NO ONE CAN HAVE A BB GUN. See, the government took care of everything. The government does not want parents responsible for their children, the government wants to make all the decisions. I am waiting for the EPA to eliminate the responsibility of parents to potty train their babies by passing an EPA regulation making it illegal for babies to soil their diapers.

That may come Old Fashioned, after all the EPA is working on making it illegal to exhale CO2. They did go after our lead ammunition and next it may be the lethal chemicals released when we fire a gun – passive gun pollution.

Here the meter maids (Traffice Enforcement "Officers") wait in their 3-wheelers for you to step out and go to a MuniMeter to pay to park and ticket you WHILE you are buying parking time and it STICKS!! This is shooting fish in a barrel.

When I was in Law Enforcement, I received a Parking Ticket from a male meter maid, while attending a homicide trail. My assigned detective unit was in the shop and I placed a note and business card on my car after filling the meter. So I gave the meter maid a Jay Walking ticket as by his own admission, he walked over to my car from the opposite side of the street crossing between two parked cars.
The judge could not contain himself from laughing and was forced to leave the bench, calling a recess. On his return he dismissed both tickets. :)

There's got to be a way to challenge that in court. They've made a law which you physically cannot comply with (to the extent they demand) then they penalize you for not complying with it.

If I were a new yorker, I would video tape the process and send a copy to the T.V. news stations. The stations love airing public servants caught red handed! Some even pay a fee for corruption exposed tapes!
