The Maersk Allabama was attacked again on Wednesday morning by four pirates in a skiff firing automatic weapons from about 300 yards away according to a statement from the US 5th Fleet. This ship was attacked by pirates last April and the Captain held hostage for 5 days before they were rescued by a team of US Navy SEAL snipers. This time the story was a little different. This time the Maersk Alabama had on board an armed security force composed of ex-military personnel who returned fire with small arms. The ship escaped the pirates with no one injured on the ship. A self proclaimed pirate from the Somali town of Haradhere told the AP that they received a call from colleagues at sea about 2 1\2 hrs after the attack. The self described pirate said "They told us they got in trouble with an American ship, then we lost them. We have been trying to locate them since." :D :D :D

Will wonders ever cease. The ship owners (this is an American flagged ship) finally used some common sense and put an armed security force on board. :D :D :D

I believe the problem isn't simply one of common sense (or lack thereof), but whether or not a ship with arms on board would be allowed entry in various ports around the globe...

Let's hope that the lessons of this story are learned!

Interesting how when given an chance to defend yourself and your property, that thugs tend to go look for an easier target. ;)

If these companies sailing these ships in hostile waters {samalia} especially cruise ships,
none of these incidents probably would have happened, besides there duty is for the safety of the passengers on a cruise ships, besides they put Air Marshall's on International
flights whats the diffrence in putting a safety detail on a cruise ships there should be some
Maritime law to cover the safety of ship and passengers!!!! Besides if the US Navy
would get involved for about a year or so and sart blowinf the pirate ships out of the water on site the B>S would probably stop>>>
