Hi All,

The gun grabbers are busily at work down here also.

But the gun owners are fighting back - at last, and hopefully not too late!

Organisations such as Gunowners South Africa (http://gunownerssa.org), SAGA (South African Gunowners Association), SA Hunters, etc are leading the charge.

This year both SA Hunters and Gunowners SA have scored significant High Court victories against the draconian Firearms Control Act.

Your link didn't work for me.

Could you tell us something about your constitutional rights and that Firearms Control Act?

Ah, sorry about that. the href picked up the parenthesis at the end of the name. Addy should be http://gunownerssa.org

Yeah, we have a great Constitution that is honoured more in the breach thereof, and this is what we are using to punish the government with. There are so many holes in the Firearms Control Act that the government is trying to force down our necks that it's really just a case of forcing the government to court in order for them to get spanked. The devil, however, is in forcing them to court! It is extremely expensive and time-consuming.

If you go to our website we have a huge amount of detail on the relevant legislation and the situation on the ground in SA.

GunownersSA, thanks for the link and post. I will be visiting that site to learn more about firearms in SA. We are always interested in hearing from members in other countries and the problems they have in firearms ownership. Keep posting.

Interesting video.
This related video was mentioned there:

I wish US TV would offer programming as unbiased as that clip.

I am happy that you were armed and ready! Did they ever catch the felons?

Um, yeah...

What you don't see is that the guy in the royal blue boilersuit who (foolishly) decides to break back down in the direction they entered the property from gets slotted and drops his CZ75, he then scrambles over the wall at the bottom of my property and limps away to their getaway car leaving a broad trail of bright, frothy blood. The cops reckon he would not have made it through the night as his mates would have done him in and ditched the body rather than have him spill what was left of his guts (after the 5.56 Nato had done it's work) at a hospital.

Pity the senior of the two had a different E&E worked out. He's obviously the far more dangerous one of the two. He legs it down the street and fires on one of my neighbours who opened their bedroom curtains to see what was going on after I shot #2. Luckily he missed her, but you can bet he's plying his trade today still.

Why did I not finish the guy? Well, you only get one chance at a 'warning shot'. And the rifle barks bloody loudly so any of the neighbours would have reported a mini firefight. The guy was tracking across my front (at full gallop) at about 50m in the dark. I briefly caught a glimpse of what I thought (correctly) was a firearm in his right hand, so, at that stage I was justified in firing the warning shot because the 'fleeing felon' posed a clear threat to me. Once he dropped his piece and had turned his back on me to scramble over the wall the threat had ceased.

It's a winner, when the good guys come out on top! I wish I could give you a firm handshake and a pat on the back for a job well done!

Best of Luck!

GunownersSA, Visited your web site today. Excellent site. I see that you have the same problem we in the USA have, acomplete disregard for the truth, facts, and statistics by the "gun grabbers". I also watched the video of the interview/debate. Very good. Keep up the effort and good luck. Keep your posts coming. I wasn't aware that SA had so much violence until I read your posts.

Yeah... the colours of the Rainbow have faded in the last 10 years or so as our political miracle failed to translate into meaningful living-standards upgrades for any but the politically connected and their families. The ruling party is also extremely reluctant to crack down on crime as the crime is seen to benefit their support-base.
