I recently applied for a Utah non-resident concealed weapons permit and just noticed that Colorado and Nevada no longer recognize Utah's non-resident permits. Colorado will honor Utah resident permits but not for non-residents. I do not understand. I thought we all had to meet the same requirements to obtain a permit. Nevada will no longer recognize any Utah permit whether it's a resident or non-resident. Perhaps I'm wrong but I kind of think the Nevada issue is because Nevada wants to make the money for the permit fees rather than see it go to Utah but this non-resident thing with Colorado completely baffles me. Can anyone enlighten me on this?

It is my understanding that Nevada will not honor Utah CCH because Utah does not require the applicant to demostrate the ability to actually shot the firearm.

Doesn't seem unreaonable to me.

Utah does require a cert from a NRA certified instructor to the best of my knowledge. The trend seems to be that they want other states to mirror their requirements.

I did have to demonstrate my ability to handle and shoot to my NRA instructor so he could certify to the state of Utah that I was safe to carry a gun along with 4 1/2 hrs of class instruction. My understanding is all non-residents have to do this to comply with Utah requirements. I kind of understand Nevada's position but I do not understand Colorados. I have to pass the very same requirements as a resident of Utah and Colorado will honor a Utah resident permit but not mine. Don't seem right somehow.
