What else would you expect from these people? There is no freedom that you enjoy that they wouldn't try to diminish, "for your own good". I'm over 21, Dear Mom and Dad of the government, I can be on my own now.

It's going to get worse before it gets better.

I wish they'd worry about criminals and leave the law abiding person alone, but it's almost seems that some want to make almost anything illegal, as long as they don't like it, it should be illegal. We have a real problem here with group rights vs individual liberties.

We have a real problem here with group rights vs individual liberties.

That, my friend, is called Collectivism. Majority rules, just like a lynch mob that determines a person’s guilt based on their collective opinion at the time. Gun owners happen to be in the minority therefore their individual rights can be ignored.

Our founding fathers created our country based on Individualism and were very careful not to make it a democracy for the reasons we see today. We are a Federal Republic governed by a Constitution with certain inalienable rights given by a higher authority than man. In other words, since our rights were given by this higher authority (Creator or God) they cannot be taken away by man or the collective. Unfortunately, our current administration doesn’t see things that way and believes our Constitution is a “living document” and can be interpreted as they see fit at the time by the collective.

The thing that I don't understand is that people somehow apparently feel "safer" if some act is made illegal. Don't they realize the bad guys will ignore the law anyway?

I think they watch the news about the random acts of violence and have a knee jerk reaction that all guns should be banned. What they do not realize is that a law abiding citizen with a firearm is their best protection.

What I do not understand is that these people, the liberal one who think that they are smarter and know better than the rest of us, fail to realize that they lose the same liberties.
I am convinced that the liberal mentality thinks that these rules and regulations are for everybody else, and not them.
Funny thing is that's what the Russian intellectuals though until the Bolsheviks took over, but then it was too late

It may be a terrible thing to say but I am starting to believe they actually fear an armed uprising by the citizenry. This is the kind of thing dictators do, disarm the citizens. Many have talked about a New World Order and global government but to do this you must dissolve nationalism and sovereignty. Our government can agree to take direction from a world body but I don’t think our citizens would go along with this. Having armed citizens presents a problem to those who would want to move in the direction of a New World Order. The UN has taken a stand against private ownership of firearms. Maybe they feel the only way they can govern is to have a disarmed populous. We already have a global economy and the next step is a global government.

I truly hope we never move in this direction.

Governments have done such a "great job" over that past 100 years that they now fear an uprising of their citizens against them. I believe that our own government thinks that many of the law abiding gun owners will take up their arms against their local / county / state / federal government sooner than later. One reason why I decided to move away from the major city environment (San Diego) and to the small town that I now call home (in southern Oregon). When the wrong things happen I hope that it stays away from my neck of the woods for as long as possible. I will never give up my guns. I will always support and defend the Constitution of the United States. I will keep to myself for the most part but am willing to take the necessary steps in order to honor and defend. Does that make me a terrorist? No way in hockey sticks - that makes me an American.

The tyrants never rest and neither should we! We need to fight them at every turn! Vote, email, donate time and money and never forget that our freedoms are only 1 demagogue away from gone!
