This is a 2007 Poll, however it is still quite active. In fact last week a person hacked into it and was posting 400 votes a minute against the right to bear arms. USA Today corrected the totals back to where they were.
On March 1st there were 1,389,185 votes cast. At this time, there is 1,872,444 votes cast. One percentage point was lost since Feb when it was 97% in favor

because we have the inherent right to defend ourselves which existed before and independent of the Second Amendment. The right of life and defense of life means the right to access the means to do so; i.e., firearms. So, the Second Amendment did not give us the right to keep and bear arms, but it does help protect it.

BluegrazzGuy, I am in total agreement with you. However the Supreme Court bases it judgements on the wording and intent of the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

John Adams believed that you were born with the right to personal protection and that right came from God. Personal protection was assumed at birth not granted from the government.
2a was intended to protect you from the government and to prevent a tyrant government. It was meant to keep the power in the hands of the people the power was never intended to be government. Government worked for the people.

I agree. The 2nd amendment doesn't 'give' anything. It merely recognizes one of many inherent individual rights.

There was a sad bit of reporting the other day Rich, where Justice Ginsberg was justifying why the Supremes should be using foreign law in deciding American cases.
So much for the Constitution........

Well, you do have to fund the UN.... You are very on point that there is definitely a movement (transnationalism) towards allowing international law to apply in the USA. Treaties are used effectively to reduce sovereignty of our Country.

Still a bad question, guys. The 2nd Amendment doesn't give anything. It affirms a God-given right....
But it sure looks like they've been surprised by the counts.
(And a "Welcome Aboard" for myself. "Posts: 1"?! Yikes....)
