The Republican lawmaker sponsoring the bill (HB2474) said it is intended to overturn bans that deprive employees and others of their Second Amendment rights.

Folks in Arizona should boycott the businesses who are opposing the right to maintain arms in a car.

I always struggle with these cases because I believe both rights are equal. :o

The bottom line is that as a property/business owner I support 2a rights, but I cant expect everybody else to think like me and their rights don't come second just because they feel differently or have liability issues that cant be remedied while maintaing profitability.

I see both sides of this issue and it drives me nuts at times.

As consumers we get to make a choice as to where we are going to do business... For instance I wont buy anything related to GE because of some of their actions and ideology...

Who knows maybe my NRA sticker has cost me sales in the past...

I also don't feel that automobiles are a safe place for a firearm to be left IMHO.

Until I find a satisfactory way to secure my carry pistol in my truck, I'm going to continue to patronize those businesses that don't question my CCW privileges. Actually....even if an under-the-truck-seat pistol safe becomes available, those establishments that get in the way of my 2A rights will still have to do without me.

I like the idea behind this bill. A number of 2A-related bills are moving through the AZ legislature right now, and as the NRA convention is being hosted in Phoenix this month, I expect them to get some extra scrutiny from the local media, be it good or bad.

"...As consumers we get to make a choice as to where we are going to do business..."

As employees we quite often have no choice where to park while at work. Such a ban deprives honest citizens of their rights on their way to work and back.

Because employers generally don't provide storage for firearms for their employees and firearms are almost universally banned at larger places of employment, the only option for the employee is to leave his weapon in his vehicle while at work. Before I retired, my pistol was always under the seat. Now I would suggest something more secure. At any rate, I think the proposed law is reasonable. Without it, I would be breaking the law daily if I were still employed.
