I guess I'm first at bat here I hope I do it right.
Anyway;
The State of Florida; Department of Acgriculture ( they issue CCW ) has a very informative site on where and when your FL CCW is valid. My brother and I went to Louisiana to pick up a boat and it was comforting to know that my handgun was legal in Alabama, and LA, I forgot to check Miss. but was OK there also.

You're good in Utah. We accept ALL concealed carry permits.

The Florida lincense is recognized in 33 states, but read the foot notes. The FL lincense is a Concealed Carry Weapons, not all states allow the carrying of weapons as opposed to a Concealed Carry Pistol Permit
Utah recognizes FL resident CCW lincense, but does not recognize non-resident FL CCW lincenses.

Denton, did the bill that was introduced to stop non residents from obtaining permits get killed yet? I need to get my Utah permit asap. ;)

If memory serves me Utah gives me De but Fla doesn't..... I will look it up again about Fla, I know the back log as been getting heavy over the last few months.

Florida recognizes Delaware, with no provisions. FL only recognizes states that recognize FL.
This does not always pertain to non-resident permits.
I corrected that link last night/ this morning, it worked when I posted it, but I left out a period.

Massad Ayoob did a story about a person who lived in Mass had a permit, was in RI had his gun and had to use it. Guess what, he did not have the RI permit and was in trouble. Mass suggest get the permits in border states if necessary.

Fla does recognize Pa so I am GTG for Fla, but De does not recognize my Pa LTCF.

http://licgweb.doacs.state.fl.us/weapons/index.html

is the URL for the Florida CCW program. I would not take any other site, or cite, to be any more accurate, or up to date than this source.

Then heres is another thought.

Concealed weapons reciprocity is one thing. (I am in Florida traveling to Montana) But it occurred to me. Just because you can carry in other states legally doesn't mean the laws for use are the same. for example Florida has no retreat law. Is there database for comparing all the states? or at least a comparison with Florida?

I guess with traveling Carjacking, B/E while in hotels, strong armed robberies would be the main concerns.
and it would be a nightmare figuring what laws are in what state.

In general would most states self defense laws be similar?
I am mainly concerned I used to live in N.Y. If some one try's to rob you you need to give them your wallet, car keys, get them health insurance and give them your g/f phone number. Florida is the opposite. so where do all the other states fit in?

Very valid points. That is why you need to educate yourself on the laws of the states that you plan on carrying in.

A general rule of thumb is that if you are in fear of your life or your families life and you have no means of avoiding the confrontation you are permitted the use of deadly force. Not many states have as strong a stance on this issue as Fla does.
