When you actually use facts to determine your position instead of "feelings", it is amazing sometimes how wrong your "thoughts" and "feelings" are.
Giving people the ability to protect themselves is the best deterrent against criminals out there. Criminals prey on the weak....

That's certainly great that we've won those folks over. But it bothers me that it's really "old news" if you check the footnotes.
I wish we could identify some high profile converts from the last year or so.

I will work on that...... I do believe the crime stats stand on their own though. Those places with the most control also have the most crime.

Frank, It is a GOA recent post made in 2009. However, I believe that the moral of the story rings true. Digesting facts can change minds that previously were in the Gun Control Camp.

I was in the other camp for a few years way back in the 70's. After hearing so much of the argument for and against private gun ownership I decided to study up on the subject. It took 2 years of research but I came to the conclusion that I was right in the first place - Gun ownership is an individual right that should not be restricted.

I, personally, am registered to vote as a Democrat (please don't stone me). But I hold to the right to keep and bear arms. People don't need to be protected FROM themselves by the government. People need to be 'allowed' to protect themselves by the government. Government is in place to help us live together, to organize us. Not control us.
