This isn't very reassuring IMO. I suggest that we all start contacting our senators on this "Pandora's Box"

While I support the need to stem the border violence and stop the flow of illegal EVERYTHING across our borders, I cannot lend support to this treaty and will be contacting my senators to do the same. It is not up to our country to do 99.9% of the "leg-work" in order to curb violence in other countries; we already fund most of the defense funds for "democratically" controlled governments through what is called foreign aid and to possibly further erode out Constitutional rights for the sake of other countries "demands" is not the American way - as I know it should be.

Prior to evolving into such a litigious society, Americans used to have so many more freedoms (less laws) and Common Sense / Family Values played a major role in the day-to-day life decisions made and the development of the next generations morals and ethics. We now live in a modern day Roman style "anything goes" mentality and the results are highlighted daily in the media. I support a Back-to-Basics mentality - where common sense and family values are applied ("would your Mother approve of that decision?" type of examination prior to implementation). But I know it's a pie-in-the-sky attitude, but it doesn't stop me my living my life that way and raising my 16 year old granddaughter (and I thought after raising her mother I was done!) to see things in that light rather than the MTV method of 21st century justification.

And I agree.

The text of the treaty defines illicit manufacturing as says:

"Illicit manufacturing": the manufacture or assembly of firearms, ammunition, explosives, and other related materials: . . .

b. without a license from a competent governmental authority of the State Party where the manufacture or assembly takes place;
http://www.oas.org/juridico/english/treaties/a-63.html

In other words, you would not be able to reload unless you were licensed by the federal government. This is language directly in the treaty while the language leading to possible registration is indirect and arguable.

Eric Holder would not waste one minute making sure that "We The People" have to register our weapons.

Here is a Bulletin from the GOA on the subject. At the end of the article is an action that we can take to stop the Treaty! http://gunowners.org/a042109.htm

Using pre-written letters is okay, but I think you'll make an even bigger impact by authoring your own.

Do both in my opinion. The post cards from GOA are very effective and the pre written memos can give some insight on what to put down in your own statements.

A fundamental problem with your suggestion is that in the United States of today, far too many mothers would approve of that (whatever) decision. Where do you think the kids learn their scheming, scamming, thieving ways? From their parents, that's where.
