In U.S., Continuing Record-Low Support for Stricter Gun Control. Fewer than 3 in 10 support law banning handguns except for police and authorized personnel by Frank Newport

PRINCETON, NJ -- For the second year in a row, a record-low 44% of Americans say laws governing the sale of firearms should be made more strict, while 42% say gun laws should be kept as they are now. Twelve percent say gun laws should be made less strict.

Well it certainly seems to me that there are a plethoria of gun laws already. Another law to prevent someone from breaking the law is redundant, wether it be gun control laws, murder, rape, etc.

But the department of redundancy department's view is, it's already illegal to do certain things yet people are doing those things. Therefore, since those laws aren't working, we obviously need new laws making it illegal to violate the old laws.

Doncha know nuthin'?

That's an easy one.....A gun law that states there shall be no Federal, State or Local laws that prohibit the individual "Right of the People to Keep and Bear Arms" And that the right shall not be denied to an individual without due process of law.

Any Federal can be challenged in court plus we have many cities actively flipping the bird to preemption laws such as Philly and Pittsburg. They KNOW there's a state preemption law but keep passing anti-CCW ordinances that get thrown out in court. You need a Constitutional Amendment. Even the SCOTUS can't argue around that if worded correctly.

Hmm! Gee me thinks that there may not be a law that states such, but me thinks it is a right guaranteed by The Constitution of The United States of America.

Some states may have statues that protect gun owners, I believe that Florida does.

Ken, Though in our Bill of Rights, it has been infringed upon and taken from some without due process of law. Examples: There are tens of thousands of Veterans who because of having post traumatic shock on their medical records cannot own or possess firearms. Carry Permits in some jurisdiction are only for politicians, the rich and the famous, while other jurisdictions are still making their own rules, such as Chicago. etc. etc.
