Article XI. Canada acceding to this confederation, and joining in the measures of the united states, shall be admitted into, and entitled to all the advantages of this union: but no other colony shall be admitted into the same, unless such admission be agreed to by nine states.
It appears that Canada, if it so choses, can become a part of the USA without a vote of the current States.

Thanks Rich-D, I thought that I was a student of history, however, I was not aware of that in the Articles of Confederation-1777. We learn something new every day. :appld:

We must be missing something based on todays standards? In essence Canada would become property of the USA, giving up any and all of their sovereignty??? They could then have state rights as long as they did not contradict with our Constitution or Federal law???
Interesting that there was not a representative from Canada.

Yeah. Since the Articles of Confederation are nulled by the Constitution, I don't think there's still any carte blanc invitation to join the Union any more. IF such a thing were to happen (such as the Maritime provinces wishing admission to the United States when Quebec gains independence) would likely have to go through the same admission process as any other State.
Wow, that would make the flag look funny, though, wouldn't it?
