View Full Version : What you want to bet?

Hmmm, after this recent homicide and attempted homicide in Arizona, and after watching the evening news relating the "details" of the perpetrator and the victims, how much is anyone willing to bet that an entirely new string of Brady-type legislation is foisted upon the American public? It seems like ever since the 9/11 murders that those with the political clout have been using fear, or rather circumstances which can induce fear, to attempt (with, it seems, a high rate of success) to gain approval of the public to allow for more and more of their Constitutional Rights to be watered down in order to allow for the "protection" of general welfare by the government itself. Whatever happened to those with the political clout who could stand and say, from the heart, "...the only thing we have to fear is, fear itself"? Well?

I am not so sure that we will see many politicians sticking their necks out for anti-gun legislation. We have a pro-gun House of Representatives and Sen. Harry Reid owes a debt to the NRA.

Ah, I see you did not post "...ANY politicians" sticking out their necks. My point is, do you see where this is headed? If you start a bowling ball rolling down a hill it does not reach the bottom until it actually moves in a horizontal direction. There is more at stake than, for example, another ban on "hi-cap" magazines.

Rich-D,
Maybe it is time to bring that national reciprocity bill back out for a vote.

I've become accustomed to Reps Mccarthy and Lautenberg proposing gun control bills.
Its not legislation that we should be worried about, its this administration tendency to ignore political protocol and just introduce regulations, but I doubt if he can get away with this un-Constitutional agenda anymore.

When newly appointed AG Holder came out with a statement that the Assault Weapons Ban was a goal of the Administration. Both Reid and Pelosi countered with an opposing view. Sure the Politicians from essentially anti-gun States like NJ are going to cater to their constituency. Fortunately, they are vastly outnumbered. However, I am not saying that we should not be eternally vigilant.
I take as many anti-gunners to the range as i can, funny how fast they become pro-gun when their fear of firearms are overcome. I carry voter registration packets in my range bag. If every gun owner converted at least one person prior to 2012, we would have no worries.
My biggest concern is Obama getting the change to appoint a Supreme Court Justice. May the five conservatives remain breathing and healthy until his term is up!

Ken, I hope you are not misled into believing that everything that occurred or is going to occur started with the current administration. NONE of the policies in place or being put forth for legislation would be possible if not for the previous admin's utilization of the public "fear factor" and the subsequent approval of the public. The PUSA is not King, but that is the way the position has virtually been observed as ever since the events of 9/11.
Rich-D, what a wonderful way to introduce new people into the fold, but I hope that you realize there is more at stake than just 2A. Reference previous administration.

allforguns, As the Forum Rules state "Only arms-related legal or political issues which affect the whole US (federal issues) can be discussed in here." we are not at liberty to discuss what else may be at stake or what the previous administration did on matters not related to firearms.

Rich-D, thank you for pointing out my feaux-pax. I should have said I hope you realize that attacks on any parts of the USCON, especially those related to any of the "Bill of Rights", have an indirect effect upon the 2A. I am not trying to discuss those specific erosions, only trying to point out that 2A and the rest of the Constitution go hand-in-hand. I stand by my statements regarding any previous admin's policies toward USCON which allow for rear-guard attacks by current admin which could be directed toward erosion of 2A rights. I am hoping people can see that "far left" banner holders are not the only political opponents IN REALITY with regards to 2A. I will do my best to stay on-target sir.

With things I have been reading I believe it will not be long before the days of going to the "show" and having a good day of horse-trading and collecting are extinct unless we start exercising our rights in good numbers, and doing so with the intent of convincing the hoplophobe crowd that fire-arms laws, as they stand, are sufficient as far as any such laws can go, for their perceived purposes of preventing gun crime. Bloomberg has been at it again.
